Abstract

The study is based on the emotional intelligence model by Salovey and Mayer (2000), which includes perception, facilitation, understanding, and emotional regulation. The objective was to evaluate the effectiveness of the emotional intelligence projects at Meritxell School, analysing the emotional identification and management of 1st and 3rd grade primary students and their family relationships. Two anonymous questionnaires were administered—one focused on family relationships and the other on peer interactions—and the “paths” metaphor was used to explore family bonds. The results show good emotional management among peers, lower in the family context, with developmental differences between educational levels. It is concluded that the school’s emotional intelligence projects have a positive impact on emotional development and that the most complex relationships occur among siblings.
